As many of you know, one of our passions at Elevation brand is entrepreneurship and emerging companies. It’s these companies (much like ourselves) who are creating the bulk of jobs in our country and who are willing to take risks and challenge the status quo. Right now we are in the process of supporting those elements by creating a co-working facility here in Tampa. I expect that not everyone will be familiar with what co-working is, so here is a brief rundown.
Tampa co-working will be a shared work facility where all independent people and professionals are welcome to work, interact, share and create. Our visions for the facility is to provide support and a physical community for what we have dubbed the “innovator class.” Most communities tend to label this group the creative class, but we believe that does our audience a disservice. The innovator class are those people and professionals creating great ideas and innovative thinking in the marketplace today. They come at it from different angles – graphic design, Web development, engineering, written/verbal communication, entrepreneurial initiative, operational expertise – but share the commonality of individual vision. It’s from the collaboration of these seemingly disparate groups of people that innovative ideas, products and eventually companies are born.
Tampa co-working (Not the official name, that has yet to be decided) is in it’s pre-launch stage currently, but we are working very diligently to bring this to launch before the end of this year. Co-working itself is a fairly new idea and is slowing spreading across America and beginning to reach into Europe as well. Co-working is defined by Wikipedia as “an emerging trend for a new pattern for working. Typically work-at-home professionals or independent contractors or people who travel frequently end up working in relative isolation. Co-working is the social gathering of a group of people, who are still working independently, but who share values and who are interested in the synergy that can happen from working with talented people in the same space. Some co-working spaces were developed by nomadic internet entrepreneurs seeking an alternative to working in coffee shops and cafes, or to isolation in independent or home offices.”
